<dcterms:abstract>This document is focused on the study of the turbulent boundary layer separation phenomenon applied to a aeronautical case study. Therefore, contains all the elements necessary, from the introduction to the boundary layer detachment equations to all the 2D and 3D simulations that have been performed in order to properly develop, visualise and understand this specific part of the fluid mechanics. The first part of the project contains the learning and formation process of the physics and equations that govern fluid motion and boundary layer detachment phenomenon due to adverse pressure gradients. Secondly, the investigation and learning process of, firstly, aerodynamics over a wing and an aerofoil, computation of forces, moments, shear stress, among others. Thirdly, different notions about different turbulence models and its char-acteristics, along with the decision of the one that suits better the case. The second part of the project contains the design, construction and simulation of a 2D aerofoil case. The aim of this group of simulations is not only to understand and visualise boundary layer detachment phenomenon, but also understand its dependencies with flow incidence angle, Lift and Reynolds Number. The third part of the project contains the design, creation and realisation of multiple simulations of a 3D case, on a wing. The objective of this case is to understand boundary layer detachment propagation over the wing and its relation with the flow incidence angle in a 3D case with induced velocity. The fourth part is based on the design, construction and simulation of a wing with a passive boundary control device, specifically, a Wing Fence. The objective is to under-stand how does this device works and its effects on wing performance. The final part of the document contains a study of the the environmental impact of this study, conclusions and the proposal for a further investigation, along with the bibliography.</dcterms:abstract>
