Uno de estos deportes, originario de los Estados Unidos, fue el push-ball. Se trata de un juego de equipo, de oposición-colaboración, cuyo elemento característico es un balón blando de grandes dimensiones que se puede empujar con todo el cuerpo hasta introducirlo en la portería del equipo contrario. Este juego, que nació en el ámbito de la educación física, no alcanzó en España el nivel de otros deportes, quedando olvidado históricamente. En este trabajo se presentan varias de las primeras noticias del push-ball en España y se analizan las causas de su escasa aceptación. Hoy el push-ball todavía puede ser aceptado en el ámbito deportivo, recreativo y en la educación física escolar. Esta investigación ha partido de la revisión bibliográfica y hemerográfica de la prensa especializada y de las noticias deportivas de la época localizadas en bases de datos digitalizadas. In the period of consolidation of foreign sports in Spain, between the late nineteenth and early twentieth century, there were some sports that failed in their first stage of experimentation. One of these sports, originating in the United States, was pushball. This is a team game of collaboration-opposition, whose distinctive feature is a large soft ball which can be pushed with any part of the body. The objective is to put the ball into the opponents' goal. This game, which was born in the field of physical education in Spain, did not reach the level of other sports, being historically forgotten. In this paper we present some of the first pieces of news on pushball in Spain and analyse the causes of its lack of acceptance. Today pushball can be still accepted in sport, recreation and physical education in schools. The research sets out from a bibliographical and media review of specialized press and sports news of the time; also the records from historical newspaper archives localized in online databases.
