00925njm 22002777a 4500 dc Adrián Escudero, Jesús author 2007 Las representaciones del cuerpo ocupan un lugar destacado en el mundo de las artes visuales, de manera que se convierten en una plataforma de inscripción y protesta que da cabida a las más diversas manifestaciones: desde el arte de la herida, el body art y la cirugía radical hasta el tecnoarte, el tatuaje, el body building y el piercing. A partir de esta variedad, I) ofrecemos un primer breve esbozo de los fundamentos filosóficos de una teoría del cuerpo que fija las coordenadas teóricas por las que discurren diferentes propuestas artísticas. II) Luego nos centramos en el papel que ha desempeñado el cuerpo en las artes visuales a lo largo del siglo XX. Llegados a este punto y a título ilustrativo, centramos nuestro interés en dos formas de abordar el tema del cuerpo en el mundo del arte contemporáneo: III) por una parte, fijamos nuestra atención en la mutación a la que Cindy Sherman somete el cuerpo humano en sus series fotográficas Sexual Pictures y, por otra parte, IV) nos adentramos en la construcción de un nuevo tipo humano que, en el mundo de la «nueva carne», responde a la imagen del cyborg. The representations of the body play an important role in visual arts, especially at the moment it transforms in platform of protest and inscription, like in the artistic manifestations of wound-art, tattoos, body building, piercing, radical surgery, techno art and body art. From this point of view, I) we first offer a previous panorama of the philosophical foundations of a theory of the body that establishes the basic coordinates of the different artistic proposals. II) Then we take into account the presence of the body in the visual arts during the last 20th century. After this, we illustrate the importance of the body from two different perspectives: III) on the one hand, we fix our attention in the mutation of human body that Cindy Sherman puts in effect in her photographical series Sexual Pictures and, on the other hand, we sketch out the construction of a new human type that responds to the image of the cyborg.
