La inscripción de los emperadores León I y Anthemio constituye un testimonio clave para reconstruir el final del Imperio romano de Occidente en Tarraco, cuya interpretación histórica global aparece condicionada por la dificultad de precisar una fecha exacta para su composición. El presente artículo realiza un análisis conjunto de las fuentes que permiten escribir la historia de la desaparición del Imperio romano como estructura de poder en Occidente, en general, y en Tarraco en particular, con el objetivo de proporcionar un marco adecuado para la inscripción. Este estudio propone un nuevo contexto para su composición, al tiempo que permite plantear una nueva visión del final de la Tarraco romana.
The inscription of Leo I and Anthemius is a key witness to reconstruct the end of the Western Roman Empire in Tarraco, the historical interpretation of which is determined by the difficulties in defining a precise date for its composition. The present article carries out a comprehensive analysis of the sources of the end of the Roman Empire as a power structure in the West, in general, and in Tarraco in particular, with the purpose of providing an appropriate framework for the inscription. This study puts forward a new context for its composition and, at the same time, it proposes a new approach to the end of Roman Tarraco.
