               <mods:abstract>This paper analyzes the factors which can influence - positively or negatively cross-cultural relationships in tourist development. In particular, it examines how academic tourism institutions can contribute through their course programs to facilitating more sustainable forms and practices of tourism management within the international tourist industry. The result being improved cross-cultural relations benefiting both the international tourist industry itself, as well as establishing a better framework for mutual interest and understanding among societies, their culture and heritage</mods:abstract>
