Impacto de la pandemia por COVID-19 en la aparición del Síndrome de Burnout en el profesional de Enfermería: Revisión sistemática de la literatura Impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the emergence of Burnout Syndrome in nursing professionals: A systematic review Murillo Orozco, Johanna Marcela Burnout Psychological Impact Nurses during COVID-19 COVID-19 Antecedentes: La pandemia por COVID-19 ha generado en las enfermeras una elevada presión física y psicológica. Por lo tanto, abordar la salud mental de los profesionales durante la pandemia es esencial. Este estudio pretende examinar el impacto de la pandemia por COVID-19 en la aparición del síndrome de burnout entre el profesional de Enfermería y determinar los factores y/o situaciones que generan en las enfermeras la sintomatología típica de este síndrome. Método: Se realizó una búsqueda exhaustiva de la literatura desde noviembre de 2020 hasta mayo de 2021 utilizado diversas bases de datos para identificar artículos relevantes, se incluyeron estudios que cumplieran criterios de inclusión y exclusión establecidos y que tuvieran evidencia empírica, cualitativa y cuantitativa sobre el síndrome de burnout y la influencia del mismo en las enfermeras durante la pandemia por COVID-19. Resultados: La búsqueda arrojó 146 estudios y, de ellos, solo 9 cumplieron los criterios de inclusión; dichos estudios revelan que la prevalencia del síndrome de burnout en los profesionales de enfermería durante la pandemia oscila entre un 31% y un 41% y cuyo principal factor asociado hace referencia al agotamiento emocional el cual se ha producido debido a la exposición a un posible contagio, la preocupación por contagiar a familiares, sensaciones de falta de medios de protección, largas jornadas de trabajo y la presión asociada a la toma de decisiones con implicaciones éticas. Conclusión: La enfermería es susceptible de padecer síndrome de burnout a causa de crisis sanitarias causadas por epidemias como la vivida actualmente, poniendo en evidencia el papel crucial que desempeña este colectivo dentro de los sistemas sanitarios; por este motivo invertir en las condiciones de trabajo y en la calidad de vida tanto física como mental de las enfermeras no solo beneficia su bienestar, sino que también beneficia a su rendimiento y, por ende, la mejora de todo el sistema sanitario. Background: The COVID-19 pandemic has placed nurses under high physical and psychological stress. Addressing the mental health of professionals during the pandemic is therefore essential. This study aims to examine the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the emergence of burnout syndrome among nursing professionals and to determine the factors and/or situations that generate the typical symptomatology of this syndrome in nurses. Method: An exhaustive literature search was conducted from November 2020 to May 2021 using various databases to identify relevant articles, including studies that met established inclusion and exclusion criteria and that had empirical, qualitative and quantitative evidence on burnout syndrome and its influence on nurses during the COVID-19 pandemic. Results: The search yielded 146 studies and, of these, only 9 met the inclusion criteria; these studies reveal that the prevalence of burnout syndrome in nursing professionals during the pandemic ranges between 31% and 41% and whose main associated factor refers to emotional exhaustion which has occurred due to exposure to possible contagion, concern about infecting family members, feelings of lack of means of protection, long working hours and the pressure associated with making decisions with ethical implications.
