               <mods:abstract>This  article  aims  to  analyse  the  vision  of  education  professionals  on  the  contextual  elements  that  facilitate  or  hinder  their  work  in  the  empowerment  processes  of  young  people.  A  quantitative  analysis  is  proposed  by  means  of  a  self-administered  questionnaire,  answered  by  a  validated  sample  of  696  educators  from  five  communities  in Spain. In general, all professionals tend to feel more present the institutional contextual elements and more distant the community contextual elements; and, at the same time, they tend to feel more present the institutional contextual elements; and, at the same time, they feel that the presence of these institutional contextual elements favours them when they are present; as for the community contextual elements, they feel that they are less present in their professional reality and, contrary to what might be expected, they do not have the markedly negative perception that they are an insurmountable obstacle in their action at the service of youth empowerment. To conclude, the paper highlights the need for trained educators to capitalise on the institutional and community elements available to them, and to neutralise the barriers that these contexts presentEste  artigo  tem  como  objetivo  analisar  a  visão  dos  profissionais  da  educação  sobre  os  elementos  contextuais  que  facilitam  ou  dificultam  sua  atuação  nos  processos  de  empoderamento  de  jovens.  Propõe-se  uma  análise  quantitativa  por  meio  de  um  questionário  autoaplicável,  respondido  por  uma  amostra  validada  de  696  educadores  de  cinco  comunidades  da  Espanha.  Em  geral,  todos  os  profissionais  tendem  a  sentir  mais  presentes os elementos do contexto institucional e mais distantes os elementos do contexto comunitário; e, ao mesmo tempo, tendem a sentir mais presentes os elementos contextuais institucionais; e, ao mesmo tempo, sentem que a presença desses elementos contextuais institucionais  os  favorece  quando  estão  presentes;  quanto  aos  elementos  do  contexto  comunitário,  sentem-se  menos  presentes  na  sua  realidade  profissional  e,  ao  contrário  do  que seria de esperar, não têm a percepção marcadamente negativa de serem um obstáculo intransponível  na  sua  ação  ao  serviço  do  empoderamento  juvenil,  Para  concluir,  o  artigo  destaca a necessidade de educadores treinados para capitalizar os elementos institucionais e comunitários à sua disposição e neutralizar as barreiras que esses contextos apresentamEste  artículo  tiene  como  objetivo  analizar  la  visión  de  los  profesionales  de  la  educación  sobre  los  elementos  contextuales  que  facilitan  o  dificultan  su  trabajo  en  los  procesos  de  empoderamiento  de  la  juventud.  Se  propone  un  análisis  cuantitativo  mediante un cuestionario autoadministrado, respondido por una muestra validada de 696 educadores/as  de  cinco  comunidades  de  España.  Los  resultados  sugieren  que  los  y  las  profesionales tienden a sentir más presentes los elementos contextuales institucionales y más distantes los elementos contextuales comunitarios; y, al mismo tiempo, tienden a sentir más presentes los elementos contextuales institucionales; y, al mismo tiempo, sienten que la  presencia  de  estos  elementos  contextuales  institucionales  les  favorece  cuando  están  presentes; en cuanto a los elementos contextuales comunitarios, sienten que están menos presentes en su realidad profesional y, contrariamente a lo que cabría esperar, no tienen la  percepción  marcadamente  negativa  de  que  son  un  obstáculo  insalvable  en  su  acción  al servicio del empoderamiento juvenil.
