Sex work is highly stigmatized. The discourses that are generated around it
build negative categories and representations of women, while these discourses are alien to
the local context where they are performed. In the following work we intend to approach the
transborder zone (Catalonia-France) to explore how this place relates to the phenomenon of
prostitution and sex work. Our exploration is a first ethnographic attempt where the complexity
and difficulty of addressing the quotidian micro spaces of women's lives is already significant.
We find ourselves with the stigma and control of information in the spaces that these women
frequent. This implies a vulnerability in their lives, although it also reflects certain mechanisms
in which the agency of these women expresses, such as their ability to generate benefits and
their knowledge and strategies developed around sex workEl trabajo sexual está altamente estigmatizado. Los discursos que se generan en
torno a él construyen categorías y representaciones negativas para las mujeres, a la vez que
estos discursos están ajenos al contexto local donde se realizan. En el siguiente trabajo pretendemos acercarnos a la zona transfrontera (Cataluña-Francia) para explorar como se relaciona este lugar con el fenómeno de la prostitución y el trabajo sexual. Nuestra exploración es un
primer intento etnográfico donde la complejidad y la dificultad de abordar los microespacios de
vida cotidiana de las mujeres ya es significativo. Nos encontramos con el estigma y el control
de la información en los espacios que frecuentan estas mujeres. Ello comporta una vulnerabilidad en sus vidas, aunque también refleja ciertos mecanismos en que la agencia de estas mujeres se expresa, como son su capacidad de generar beneficios y sus saberes y estrategias desarrolladas entorno al trabajo sexualEste trabajo se ha desarrollado en el marco del proyecto de
