Cràtil In the following pages my intention is to analyse the theory of language present in Plato's C r a t y l u s. On the one hand, the conception of meaning of words that Plato seems to defend in this dialogue is analysed; on the other hand, it is concerned with the problem of the origins of language. These questions are put in relation to ontological and epistemological views of Plato: i.e., essentialism, the theory of reminiscence and the sophistic thesis of the impossibility of speaking with falsehood. The conclusion is that in C r a t y l u s we can find sketched the theory of language needded by Plato for his further Theory of Forms La meva intenció en les pàgines següents és analitzar la teoria del llenguatge que es troba en el C r à t i l de Plató. D'una banda, s'analitza la concepció del significat de les paraules que Plató sembla defensar en aquest diàleg; de l'altra, s'ocupa del problema dels orígens del llenguatge. Aquestes qüestions s'estudien en relació amb la perspectiva ontològica i epistemològica de Plató: essencialisme, teoria de la reminiscència i les tesis dels sofistes sobre la impossibilitat de parlar amb falsedat.
