Este trabajo tiene como objetivo estudiar la incidencia del elemento «et» en la
construcción del sentido textual a través de un análisis discursivo y traductológico. El
análi sis discursivo ha permitido determinar los principales valores semántico-pragmáticos de «et» en un corpus de textos políticos, así como las estructuras discursivas más
frecuentes en que interviene. Este elemento se ha revelado muy importante en la
ordenación de los enunciados, en la creación de efectos rítmicos y persuasivos, y
sobre todo en la cristalización de un punto de vista determinado. El análisis traductológico también ha confirmado su importancia, puesto que, cuando en la versión
española «et» se omite o se recupera por unidades con un valor distinto, las dimensiones pragmática y estilística del tex,to original así como su orientación argumentativa no se recrean completamente.This paper aims to study the relevance of the element «et» in the construction
of meaning in a text through a discourse analysis and a translation study. The discourse analysis enables to appreciate the main semantic-pragmatic values of «et» in a
corpus made up of política! texts and the discoursive structures which appear more
frequently. This element is very important in the organization of segments, in the
creatíon of rhythmic and persuasive effects and in the crystallization of a specific
point of view. The translation study confirms its importance, because when there is
an omission of «et» in the Spanish version or it is translated by units with a different
value, the pragmatic and stylistic dimensions of the original text, as well as its point
of view, are not fully recreated.
