Iconografía de la sangre menstrual en la ficción audiovisual

La menstruación es una realidad, un hecho tangible, que se puede
ver, tocar y sentir; un fluido producido por el cuerpo. Pero a pesar de su
materialidad, pocas son las imágenes que tenemos de ella. Este trabajo tiene la
voluntad de recuperar su imagen en la ficción audiovisual, poniendo en diálogo
aquellas películas y series de televisión que acercan de forma explícita la
sangre menstrual a un primer plano. Mediante un análisis iconográfico se dota
a la sangre menstrual de un valor estético, transgrediendo su condición abyecta
para articular un escenario figurativo en el que el cuerpo femenino se desgarra
y se desborda como resistencia. Una resistencia que pone en cuestionamiento
la diferencia sexual y los códigos patriarcales asentados en la historia de
nuestras imágenes.
Menstruation is a reality, a tangible fact, that can be seen, touched
and felt; a fluid produced by the body. But despite its materiality, few are the
images we have of it. This research aims to recover its image in audiovisual
fiction, putting into dialogue those films and television series that explicitly bring
menstrual blood on-screen. Through an iconographic analysis, menstrual blood
is endowed with an aesthetic value, transgressing its abject condition to
articulate a figurative imaginary in which the female body tears and overflows as
resistance. A resistance that puts into question the sexual difference and the
patriarchal codes established in the history of our images.
