Research project carried out by a pupil of secondary education and rewarded with a Prize CIRIT to foster the scientific spirit of the Youth in year 2009. The topic of this research project is the Occitan language, which at the same time is separated in a sociolinguistic study (its current situation) and in a dialectologic one (phonetic and morphologic study of Northern Occitan dialects: auvergnat, limousin and vivaro-alpine). The study begins with and introduction where we talk about the relationship of the author with Occitan through four years, regarding its context (history, states where it is spoken, question of its name, problems related to standardization, etc. ). It is also studied the serious situation it faces, triying to explain some of its causes. Moreover, are treated both tendencies regarding its normativization: a rigid standardization or a flexible one, like basque standard ''euskara batua''. On the other hand, it is made a presentation of Northern Occitan dialectal richness, separating vocalism from consonantism (although a brief presentation of morphology), which is the less known and less studied variety. |
