Sistema de procesado de señal y extracción de datos para un lidar coherente

This project consists of programming an acquisition, signal processing and data extraction system for coherent lidar, more specifically a lidar system capable of measure variations in wind velocity at different distances, and provide the data to the user in real time. The processed signal is obtained from a laboratory prototype of a continuous wave coherent lidar system. This system has been designed to work with both continuous wave and pulsed systems. A computer equipped with a data acquisition card with sampling rate up to 2 Gigasamples/second was used for signal acquisition. Acquisition, signal processing and data extraction system and user interface has been developed with LabView software platform. The signal processing basically consists of the application of the FFT algorithm (Fast Fourier Transform) to obtain values of velocity, and then find the mean value doing average with successive samples. It has also been implemented the option to set different distance resolutions for the data, and the ability to generate text files with the measurements made. Initially the system was tested using an arbitrary signal generator up to 80 MHz. Measurements have also been obtained using the lidar laboratory prototype, in this case the target has been simulated using a rotating disk which provides adjustable constant velocity. Due to irregularities in the noise component of the Doppler signal provided by the prototype, the final margin of velocity values that the system is able to measure is between 2 m/s (7 Km/h) and 32 m/s (115 Km/h).
