dc.description.abstract |
People affected by a paraplegic disability or many other walking disabilities have to face every day the difficulties of a perpetual sitting life. Is not possible for them to reach a life where there is no
need of external help for the daily activities.
In this project will be studied the kinematics of a device that allows the user to drive while standing, to train his legs and arms without any external help, to transfer himself to different sitting places;
briefly said: to give more independence to the user.
During this study, data about the population sizes will be applied to define the device dimensions, CAD programs will be used to simulate the ergonomic movement, a dynamic study will be carried out for finding the proper force mechanism to support the user during standing and sitting movement
and both the parameters and their ranges will be defined in order to build up an adjustable and ergonomic device.
With the collaboration of a specialized institution in spinal cord injuries, theoretical results will be tested with paraplegic patients. Finally, the device ergonomics must fulfill all the standards according to the market regulations in order to ensure user safety and offer to disabled people the chance to improve their independence. |
