Past and future of the Second Life phenomenon. Analysis of the factors of comparative advantage

The topic covered throughout this study is the cause of the past hype of Second Life and its present success as virtual world; and the factors of comparative advantage in front of other virtual worlds. This is study is based on the theory and concepts related to cutting-edge technologies and their interaction with society that virtual worlds provide. The thesis is widely based on literature: Internet sources (blogs, digital and paper based newspapers and specialized web sites), books and academical papers shape the main sources of the project. The method followed has been the extraction from these sources of the valuable and trustworthy information and data to build this thesis. The analysis is conducted in a factual basis relying only in contrasted information with a clear will of accuracy in the analysis provided. Some direct and reported experiences are also added to the thesis to contrast any information which is susceptible of this kind of verification. This study is focused on identifying and classifying the main factors which created the hype of Second Life and which were the factors of comparative advantage that the virtual world hold.
