El túnel es un tipo de infraestructura que se adapta bien a las necesidades actuales de comunicación y medio ambiente requeridas por la sociedad. Ambos conceptos hacen del túnel un elemento de presente y de futuro: cada vez se hacen más túneles, más largos y en condiciones más adversas, en los que las tuneladoras y estructuras de revestimiento, juegan un papel importante. Las características geométricas de estas dovelas son cambiantes, y actualmente siguen evolucionando en función de las dimensiones del túnel, características de la tuneladora, objetivo para el que se diseña el túnel, terreno por el que transcurre, etc. De esta forma surge la presente tesina, con el objetivo de llevar a cabo un trabajo de investigación de la documentación existente hasta el momento sobre el tema tratado, así como la recopilación de datos de proyectos reales y la recolección y unificación de bibliografía existente sobre el tema, que permita analizar la evolución que han sufrido estas piezas que forman la estructura de sujeción de los túneles, a lo largo de la historia reciente, y poder redactar una serie de recomendaciones para su aplicación en el futuro. Con todo ello, se podrá proponer unas recomendaciones sobre los aspectos geométricos de estas piezas, que permitan optimizar procesos constructivos, reducir errores cometidos en el pasado y en definitiva mejorar la calidad de los túneles construidos. Para conseguir dicho objetivo, se redacta un estado del conocimiento asociado tanto a la tecnología de la construcción de túneles con TBM como en relación a las dovelas para el revestimiento de los túneles. Se expone el método que se emplea para el análisis de las dovelas y anillos usados en los proyectos reales estudiados. Se lleva a cabo un análisis de los resultados teniendo en cuenta consideraciones de tipo geométrico. Finalmente se redactan unas conclusiones relativas a los resultados y su análisis así como unas recomendaciones y futuras líneas de investigación.

The tunnel is an infrastructure type which is adapted properly to the current communication and environment needs, required by society. This concept make the tunnel a present and future element: currently more tunnels are made, longer and in more difficult conditions, in which the TBMs and lining structures have an important role. Geometric characteristics of these segmental lining are changing. Today they are still developing, depending on the tunnel’s dimensions, TBM’s characteristics, tunnel’s purpose, terrain’s characteristics in which the tunnel goes through, etc. Thus the present thesis arises, with the target of accomplish a research the existing documentation on the topic, as well as collecting real data from projects and the existing literature unification. All this, made possible to analyze the evolution suffered by these lining structure pieces throughout recent history, and finally be able to draft a set of recommendations on this topic, for implementation in the future. All these elements help us to perform a range of recommendations on the segments geometric characteristics, in order to optimize construction processes, reduce errors committed in the past, and ultimately improve the tunnels quality. To achieve this objective, a state of art is included with both, TBM tunnel construction technology and the tunnels lining segments knowledge. Is exposed the method used to analyze the segments, as well as lining rings used in real studied projects. An analysis of the results, taking into account geometrical considerations, is carried out. Finally, conclusions on the results and analysis are written, as well as recommendations and future research lines.
