This work presents the first Delay Doppler Maps (DDMs) obtained with the Microwave Interferometric Reflectometer (MIR) airborne instrument. MIR is a GNSS Reflectometer (GNSS-R) which uses the conventional (cGNSS-R) and interferometric (iGNSS-R) techniques for ocean and land observation. It computes real-time sample-to-sample complex DDMs with averaging and alignment, of up to 4
simultaneous GPS/Galileo satellites at the L1/E1, and L5/E5a bands. Satellites are tracked with high directivity antennas with beam steering. The MIR instrument is designed to validate and compare both GNSS-R techniques with the new
available signals, with special focus in the GEROS-ISS payload, and to contribute to the development of geophysical retrieval algorithms. |
